And Billie Joe is in it. If anything else, watch it because of him ;)

21 Guns
For those of you who may not know, Green Day semi-recently came out with a new single, "21 Guns". If you don't think you've heard it, if you've ever turned the radio on within the last 9 months, I guarantee you've heard it. Anyway, this is a really cool video and "remake" of the song, sung mostly by the cast from the American Idiot musical (they made a Green Day album into a freakin' musical. Me+Green Day+Musical=BLISS!!!!). Take a listen, it's a little cheesey, but it's REALLY good for the most part!

Life
Well, this week I've been getting certified for my phlebotomy classes. Which means I have to get my friends to come in to the place I've been taking classes and let me practice on them :D I have to get 15 sticks in, and I'm going to be officially certified by Thursday! Yay!!
Yesterday, Andy and his friend Will came along with Lauren and our friend Matt. It was a lot of fun, and Lauren took a bunch of pictures! But here are a couple that we took with Will's phone, just so you can see me in action ;)
The above picture is before I got the tube in, just in case you're wondering where the blood is...
Everyone said it's been painless, and Lauren was glad that I didn't move the needle around in her arm even when I had to look around for my cotton ball. I think I'm pretty darn good! I'm really excited to start working in phlebotomy. I never thought I'd ever enjoy needles and blood and stuff.
Not this past weekend, but the weekend before that, Nate and I had dinner at his new apartment, and we had WINGER'S STICKY FINGERS!!!! They are seriously to die for! I looooooooove them! We got a big tub of them, too!
Earlier that day, we biked around campus, which is a lot of fun. We ran into some guys who were biking up and off these big rocks on campus...there are a lot of places around to do jumps off and stuff. The Utah campus is seriously awesome. I love it! This is me in mid-laugh:

Then, Jesse and I went skiing at Brighton, which was a lot of fun!
He snowboards, and it was almost weird being at a resort that allows snowboarders. I'll say, I kind of like Alta because it's skiers-only, which has two huge advantages:
1. Everyone on the hills are a lot more in control, and you don't have to worry about a boarder mowing you over, since they like to go 100 mph down the hills
2. On snowy powder days, the powder stays intact a lot longer, and the snow in general is better, because boards just pack the snow down too much.
Alta doesn't have any Park terrain, meaning they don't have boxes, rails, or big jumps to go off of. Park can be a lot of fun, but Park also means PARK RATS. I shall give you a lovely example of these types of people:
This is probably a kind representation of what I see. These Park Rats wear RIDICULOUSLY long shirts that go down to their knees at the shortest, and are bright neon colors and their beanies stand up about 2 feet off their heads, and NONE of their gear matches anything. The only thing that matches is that it's ALL NEON. Yeah, it may "cool", "hip", whatever, but just like how we snicker at the neon '80's skiing jumpsuits:
Our kids are going to look back at our styles and be like, "WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?!" Or maybe this is just the beginning of a downhill slope (pun intended) of bad skiing/snowboarding fashion. Because these two styles are both neon...except the modern style is even MORE ridiculous and loose fitting. The mohawk is pretty cool, too. :)
*sigh*
Sorry to those of you who wore these neon skiing jumpsuits ;)
I should have condensed this post to two different posts, but here's an extra long post anyway!

Craziest Morning Ever!!
So, I had a Vocab test today in Physiology, which I've been studying for for the last week and half, and last night I got in a TON of studying and even went to bed at decent hour so I could wake up on time, study in the morning, eat breakfast, and be totally prepared for the test.
Well, I forgot to set my alarm.
Luckily, I've been so in the habit of waking up at 8:45 that I woke up at 9:25, BARELY enough time to hop in my car and drive up to my 9:40 Physiology class. Heck, I don't even think it was out of habit that I woke up, I think for those of you who know how much I love sleeping in, me waking up before noon is divine intervention! :)
I just threw on a coat, some pants, grabbed my glasses from my desk, and ran out the door with my backpack that was conveniently waiting for me by the door. I ran into my car, put my key in the ignition and....
MY CAR WOULDN'T START!
AHHH!!!!!!!
I completely freaked out, tried putting the key in again and again and trying to start the engine...I thought my car was dead. I didn't notice any of the lights on but who knows. Then I started thinking in my head, "If I try to hop on Trax up to the school, will I be even more late, or will it maybe get me there on time?" Because Trax only runs every 15 minutes, and even then it's still a 10 minute walk from my class.
Then I thought, "Maybe it will be faster if I just sprint UPHILL all the way to class!" It's a 20 minute walk uphill, I can't imagine RUNNING for that distance uphill!
But then I calmly put my key in the ignition again, turned it, and it worked. *WHEW!* I drove up to class, parked, ran-walked to class while looking at my notecards, and walked into class RIGHT at 9:40. :)
Took my Vocab quiz, and I definitely think I aced it.

Good Quote
Just replace India with Bakersfield! (Or Bahrain, for Dad & Paula!)
"In India, "cold weather" is merely a conventional phrase and has come into
use through the necessity of having some way to distinguish between weather
which will melt a brass doorknob and weather which will only make it mushy."
-- Mark Twain

And while I'm here, here's a random picture of Coco and Grayson playing basketball with me:

"You're gonna end up eating a steady diet of government cheese and...."
Hello family! Right now I'm in Phoenix, waiting for my flight to Salt Lake City! I had such a great time in Bakersfield for Christmas Break, it's sad to leave :(
I'll post up pictures from the break soon (Well...I don't have the best track record for posting on here but I'll really try!) but I just found this picture and thought I'd share :)

Spring 2010 Schedule
Here's the update on my Spring schedule that I finalized tonight. I revised it a bit from what I was originally going to do, and I feel a LOT better about this plan:
The Classes:
*Human Physiology (4 credits)
*Human Growth and Development (3 credits)
*World Regional Geography (3 credits) <---Super random, I know. But it fell under my last real generals to take and it fit into my schedule well!
*Hike Arches Park (2 credits)
For a grand total of 12 credits...full time student!
Here's my weekly schedule:
MONDAY:
Physiology- 9:40-10:30
Human Growth- 10:45-11:35
Weekly Panhellenic Meeting- 3:00-4:00
Weekly AXO Meeting- Usually 5:30-7:00
TUESDAY:
Physiology- 9:40-10:30
Geography- 10:45-12:05
WEDNESDAY:
Physiology- 9:40-10:30
Human Growth- 10:45-11:35
THURSDAY:
Physiology- 9:40-10:30
Geography- 10:45-12:05
FRIDAY:
Human Growth- 10:45-11:35
Ski Teach @ Alta- 1:00-3:00 [This goes from the end of January to the middle of March]
And then my Hike Arches Park will just be one weekend in Moab sometime in March, I think at the end of Spring Break.
I originally had Nutrition Intervention in there for 4 credits instead of Geography, but it just didn't work with my schedule too well and it seems like a hard class.
I love my schedule. I'm done by the afternoon, and my classes are back to back. I hate breaks between classes, because I go home and get so unmotivated to go back to class! Also, this will free up some time for me so I can fit in working and volunteering. I've planned everything out so I can get certified as a Phlebotomist the first of the new semester.
Now, you can apply to the nursing program with a few required classes still to go, as long as you're taking them before you get into the program. So, after Physiology, I could apply right to the program, if they had a Fall application period, but they only start accepting in January FOR the fall semester. As long as I keep passing my classes, I can take a break over Summer and then in the Fall, I only have THREE classes to take before I'm COMPLETELY done!! Even then, I technically could take Fall off too, and just take those last 3 classes during Spring 2011 or Summer, because the remaining classes aren't required to be graded already by the time I apply. Also, I'm concerned that my AP English score (I got a score of 4 out of 5....a 3 is usually required to waive a college course) won't take the place of my Writing Requirement. So I may have to take a writing class, but no big deal.
Anyway! I'm happy about next semester, and wrapping things up! I'm just hoping this semester ends well!
